What Can We Learn About Yearly Reflections For Our Businesses

End of the year checklist:

  • Reflect on the year that has passed and all I did or didn’t do.

  • Course correct and make a plan to focus on the things I want to create more of in the future.

  • Catch up with all movies I missed this year while stuffing my face on Christmas food.

Ok this last one is not so important and definitely not something I’d do…

Anyways, what I really like about the first 2 points is that this habit of reflection, although usually left for the end of the year, is an incredible tool we have to create what we want in life.

Earlier this year I made a commitment to take some time (15-30min) every weekend to reflect on what I’ve been creating in my life and business.

I noticed that, just like now at the end of the year, whenever I do take the time to sit down with ̶a̶ ̶p̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶p̶a̶p̶e̶r̶ the notepad on my phone and reflect, I always take an honest look at my commitments - or lack of them - and create an opportunity to course correct.

No wonder that usually at the beginning of the year there are a lot of people starting their new health regime or taking a leap into their new entrepreneurial venture.

When we take the time to reflect on our commitments we have more mental space to put things in perspective and choose what’s a priority to focus on next.

That’s one of the reasons why I love working with a coach, because I make a ME TIME commitment every week to reflect and work on the problems I am finding and what I want to create instead.

It’s a waste of my creative potential to wait until the end of the year or special circumstances to reflect. If I can choose to do it then, I can choose to it at any moment.

Block a time in your calendar for frequent reflection and create a system to make sure you’ll follow through. If you are honest with yourself during that time and always willing to change moving forward, I guarantee you it’ll be really useful for creating more of what you want in your life and business.
